The Members Club

An introduction to the Members Club

The Members Club has a Council which meets monthly. They, together with a number of committees, are responsible for the day to day running of the Members’ Club.

The Council is made up of the following officials: Club Captain, Lady Captain, Vice Captain, President, Hon. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer, Seniors Captain, Handicap Secretary, Competition Secretary, Juniors Organiser and a representative of the Clays Management Team. Council meeting minutes can be found in the entrance foyer in the clubhouse.

Club Sections

As well as overall membership of the club, we also have separate Mens, Seniors & Ladies sections who organise their own competitions on designated days.

There is a mixture of competitive and social, qualifying and non-qualifying competitions throughout the year. You can also enter our honours board knockout competitions which are played on days to suit you and your competitors.

Handicap Application

Regardless of your membership category, all Clays Golf members are eligible to apply for a handicap. Members who wish to obtain or renew their handicap after each year, are required to pay an annual handicap fee which covers the Clays Golf Members Club Levy, Wales Golf & Denbighshire Golfing Union affiliation fees. Simply follow our step by step guide on how to achieve your first handicap.

Club Competitions

Club Competitions and Honours Board Knockout Competitions are played from April through to September each year. We also hold “winter” competitions from October to March, some of which will be non-qualifying.

These competitions are a mixture of Strokeplay, Stableford, Pairs, Mixed and Team. You can view all of our club competitions in the online Club Calendar.

Social Events

Social events take place throughout the year. They are advertised on the notice boards in the golf reception, around the clubhouse, in the Captain’s Monthly Newsletter, on our website and on our Facebook page.

Events include Themed Food Nights, Quizzes, Cheese and Wine evening, Race Night, Christmas Party and Captains’ Dinner. For some events you will need to register your interest as spaces may be limited. Otherwise just turn up on the night. Details are provided when the events are advertised. You are most welcome to bring your friends and family to these events.

Meetings & AGM’s

part from the monthly Club Council meeting held on the second Tuesday of each month, the other main formal club meeting is the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The Members Club AGM is held before the end of March.
